If you see Hannah Gordon’s resume one thing is certain: she has a passion for football. She worked in PR for the Raiders, Cal-Berkeley football, and the NFL Players Association which helped her land a job with the San Francisco 49ers. She currently holds the title of Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel with the franchise.
“You have to persevere and not give up because you’re going to hear a lot of “no’s”, Gordon said in an interview with GoodSport. “To succeed in sports, you have to be the best, just like athletes do on the field. And you have to find something that you really love because if you don’t love something, you’re not going to be the best at it.”
Gordon’s responsibilities with the 49ers include overseeing projects such as Women of the Niners and 49ers PRIDE for LGBTQ+ fans.
“We are a women-owned business,” said Gordon, who is a Stanford Law school graduate. “And that’s had a big influence on our culture. We came up with the first-ever policy in the NFL where for every job, we interview at least one woman and one person of color.”
Gordon, who covered the UCLA Bruins football team as a beat writer during her undergraduate days in Westwood, has also been instrumental in improving the work environment with the 49ers.
“We will bring women in for a year and they will rotate between departments where women have historically under-represented,” she added.
